FAQs

YOU CHARGE SO LITTLE. DOES IT MEAN YOU USE CHEAPER CAMERAS AND LENSES?

Not at all! I shoot with a top-notch professional mirrorless camera Sony a9 (orig. $4500). This camera is dead silent when taking pictures, which is very important for candid moments of your wedding (like a ceremony in a church or reading your vows).

Also, I always have a backup mirrorless camera and a set of professional prime and zoom lenses, such as Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 GM (orig. $2200), Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM (orig. $2000), Sony 85mm f/1.4 GM (orig. $1800) along with a 35mm f/1.4, a 50mm f/1.4, a 35mm f/2.8 and even a 50mm f/0.95 lens!

I also use a 135 film camera (usually with top professional film like Fujifilm 400H or Kodak Portra 400) and process all the film rolls at one of the best fine art wedding film laboratories in the world, which is also not cheap.

HOW HAVE YOU MANAGED TO KEEP THE PRICES SO LOW THEN?

I switched from a medium format camera to a 135 camera. Also, I have cut a number of rolls I use, meaning I have to spend much less on film processing and scanning. At the same time, I learned how to use magic edit digital files and how to make them look like film photos. So now I (and you) get all the benefits of digital photography, such as resolution, sharpness, flexibility and autofocus accuracy along with all the things film photography is known for, such as beautiful colors and contrast.

WHAT ARE YOU INTO?

I really enjoy traveling, watching indie movies and listening to great music. Also, I'm a mens fashion activist. Kidding. But don't expect me to wear jeans or shorts on your wedding day!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE MOVIES?

Moonrise Kingdom, Her, Lobster, Swiss Army Man. Obviously, all indie movies about love and relationship.

WHERE IS YOUR ACCENT FROM? IT'S LIKE I'M GONNA HEAR "I NEED YOUR CLOTHES, YOUR BOOTS AND YOUR MOTORCYCLE"

Thanks to my parents I was born in former Soviet Union. Yep, Stalin, matryoshka, vodka and brown bears walking in the streets! :D

ARE YOU A DIRECTOR OR AN OBSERVER WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR WORK AS A PHOTOGRAPHER?

I would say I'm an observer. I don't like to attract a lot of attention to myself and love to capture some candid moments of your wedding day. Of course, I can always help you with posing tips when you need them.

IF YOU COULD GIVE ONLY ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT IT WOULD BE?

Hire a wedding planner! You can't even imagine how a good planner helps with stress and with getting beautiful pictures. Yes, a good planning is a vital part of nice photographs.
